My Shadow

You only need to see my shadow
to understand my place
this stalwart friend
who holds his ground
a conviction – unlike the rest.

Others see an image cast
as if it were a certainty
as if he and I were one
but I see two separate lives
each with its own –
intercepting light.

Our views are often different
I may lean towards the left
and he more towards the right
but no matter where we stand
on these heated days
in the end – we stand together
and we always –
stand as friends.

I Think Of Her In Tiers

I think of her in tiers
clouds and sky and sun
and obscure thoughts
and tangled words
butterflies with wide daisy eyes
and secrets unheard
a nymph with quiet lips
a rainbow
from storm to light
like the colour of music
which echoes of church bells
that fly through the night
i think of her in tiers
with her eyes, cheeks and lips
and sunsets –
pressed against my heart.

Treasure Found

You mould my flesh
like treasure found
with sweeping hands
and gasping ribs
as walls watch
and shadows play
through closed windows
now dissolved of sound
a pantomime of warriors yell
when our bodies clash
in a mirrored fight
then darkness –
takes away the light
and passion screams….
to the sodden sheets of time
then only whispers speak
as we have reached the gold.
